DR. JEAN TALLEYRAND, Founder/CEO
Dr. Jean Talleyrand founded MediCann in order to provide advanced alternative care therapy and education to a greater number of patients. Since its inception in 2004, MediCann has served more than 200,000 patients in California.
Dr. Talleyrand completed his medical degree at Boston University and moved to San Francisco in 1995 to complete his residency at UCSF/General Hospital Family Practice Program. A third-generation physician, in 2001 he began a private practice in San Francisco’s Mission District, primarily serving the area’s poor residents.
His interest in alternative, holistic medicine led Dr. Talleyrand to begin treating patients with medicinal marijuana to ease their pain when traditional pharmaceuticals had failed or caused unwanted serious side-effects. His research into medical cannabis led him to see that it could be a viable therapeutic treatment for several medical conditions—especially chronic pain experienced by patients suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, back injuries, diabetes, anxiety, insomnia, migraine headaches and arthritis.

DEB JOHNSTON, Vice President
Deb Johnston has been an integral part of MediCann since shortly after the company was founded in 2004. Her responsibilities include guiding corporate legal policy, lobbying legislators to protect medical cannabis patients’ rights and operational development. Deb is involved in all top-level management decision-making and forward planning.
